The Boston Globe Names Workhuman a Top Place to Work for 2020

Framingham-based Social Recognition and Continuous Performance Management company celebrates its employees while encouraging other organizations to work more human

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--Workhuman®, the world’s fastest-growing Social Recognition® and Continuous Performance Management platform, has been named one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts in medium-sized company category in the 13th annual employee-based survey project from The Boston Globe. This marks the seventh year that Workhuman has been named to this prestigious list.

“This was a particularly challenging year to be a great place to work, and the companies that made our list went above and beyond to keep their employees safe, engaged, and cared for,” said Katie Johnston, the Globe’s Top Places to Work editor. “From offering help with childcare to making the workplace more equitable to holding virtual talent shows, these employers showed that the best get better in crisis.”

Workhuman encourages all of its employees to bring their whole self to work and celebrates each human for all that they are. During the COVID-19 pandemic especially, the company recognized the need to keep humanity in the workplace and put measures in place to increase connection in the remote working environment, including virtual workout classes and happy hours and hosting open office hours with teams and executives. Utilizing its Moodtracker tool to survey employees to better understand how they were feeling, Workhuman then encouraged its employees to take time off to recharge as needed, now knowing how the pandemic and working situation was impacting mental health. While current research shows that humans are working more hours than ever during the pandemic, through the use of its Continuous Performance Management platform, Workhuman has found that its employees are maintaining a shared focus on the work the matters. The company also continues to be a power user of its Social Recognition platform, encouraging employees to cultivate strong connections by recognizing each other for all the hard work that was being done during this unprecedented time. And to encourage other organizations and professionals, as well as its own humans, Workhuman launched Workhuman Certified in October 2020.

“Being named a Top Place to Work is validation of everything that we live and breathe at Workhuman, and I am personally proud of the company culture we have built over the last twenty years and sustained through the pandemic,” said Eric Mosley, Workhuman co-founder and CEO. “Workhuman is shaping the future of work by helping forward-thinking companies energize their cultures, unlock their employees’ passion and potential, and unite their workforce around a shared purpose, and that starts right here in our own organization. COVID-19 has forever changed the world of work and this new environment, the one where humans are at the center, isn’t going anywhere. Our employees have always been and will always be the most important asset at our company.”

Top Places to Work recognizes the most admired workplaces in the state voted on by the people who know them best—their employees. The survey measures employee opinions about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits, and engagement. The employers are placed into one of four groups: small, with 50 to 99 employees; medium, with 100 to 249 workers; large, with 250 to 999; and largest, with 1,000 or more.

The rankings in Top Places to Work are based on confidential survey information collected by Energage (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, from more than 80,000 individuals at 285 Massachusetts organizations. The winners share a few key traits, including offering progressive benefits, giving their employees a voice, and encouraging them to have some fun while they’re at it.
