ATLANTA--()--Continuing its innovation in the telemedicine services industry, Physician 360 has announced a first-to-market consumer otoscope and telemedicine kit for ear infections. This innovative package will be sold directly to consumers as well as available to independent pharmacies across the US for retail sale.

Ear infections are the number one reason children go to the doctor, accounting for about 30 million visits to the pediatrician each year. More than 80 percent of children have at least one ear infection by the time they are 3 years old (Boston Children’s Hospital). U.S. parents spend roughly $3 billion each year on doctor visits and treatment, according to the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, with an average annual cost of $350 per child.

The Physician 360 Ear Infection Kit allows inspection of the external ear canal and tympanic membrane under magnification, using a camera and light. Purchased at a pharmacy or directly on the Physician 360 website, the kit can be used any time for an accurate diagnosis by attaching the otoscope to a computer, allowing the medical professional to view the child’s ear remotely. Then, the Physician 360 medical team can send a prescription to any local pharmacy to be filled, if necessary.

Offering this innovative kit to diagnose ear infections is part of Physician 360’s ongoing mission to help patients have access to modern, affordable telemedicine services that lower the cost of healthcare and avoid long waits at urgent care facilities and emergency rooms.
