Operation HOPE Founder, John Hope Bryant, Authors Fourth Book Up From Nothing; The Untold Story of How We (All) Succeed

ATLANTA, Ga.--()--Berrett-Koehler will release the fourth book written by John Hope Bryant, entitled Up From Nothing; The Untold Story of How We (All) Succeed on October 6, 2020.

With a personal and powerful foreword by legendary civil rights leader, Ambassador Andrew Young, Bryant introduces for the first time the inspiring story of his own rise from humble beginnings and shows how individually we can change our mindset from survivor to thriver and move beyond just getting by to becoming wildly successful.

In Up From Nothing, John Hope Bryant charges that by ensuring every stakeholder in America has access to the Five Pillars of Success; massive education, financial literacy, strong family structure, self-esteem, and supportive role models, that we can fulfill the promise of America’s greatness. Bryant challenges that America is still the Land of Opportunity but we must turn away from distractions, such as political in-fighting or racial and class divisions, and focus on what we can control.

“In my view the timing of this book could not be more poignant, given the disruptive events of 2020; from a global health pandemic, to an economic crisis here at home, to and a 400 year old social justice reckoning for Black America. But now we must face all of these challenges in real time, and to frame and forge a make-sense strategy going forward that includes all of us. If there was ever a time for an Up From Nothing story, and a business plan for the success of all of us — it is now” said John Hope Bryant.

The main focus of this book is to help reframe and retrain the mindset of a generation of strivers, from their struggling mindset (often passed down from generation to generation and unconsciously ‘taught,’ from childhood for far too many), to that of a winning mindset. A winner, believed that they were a winner, before they ever won anything.

This winning mindset provides the reader with the necessary personal resiliency to ‘make it’ in America 2020 and beyond. It is also the one prerequisite for building anything, be that personal wealth, a new business or enterprise or best in class organization, an effective government, a community, a family, or even just the best version of yourself. Even if recent events of 2020 prove to be a catalyst for necessary change, without a shift in mindset for those who stand to benefit the most, nothing will change.

Heralded by government, business and community leaders alike, here are some of the select endorsements:

“In this time of change and uncertainty, John Hope Bryant’s fundamental optimism and clear vision are necessary and inspiring. D. Jakes, C.E.O., TDJ Enterprises, LLP, New York Times best-selling Author

"Sometimes it can be hard to really understand the plight of others when your personal experiences have been vastly different. It is difficult to know what is unseen. John Hope Bryant has lived many different lives, and is successful in a diverse number of social and economic circles, which he shares in "Up From Nothing". This book will help to widen perspectives, and narrow the differences between us. John is amazing and so inspiring, and the book is both well-timed and relevant. - Susie Buffett.
