Silverts Unveils Jacki® Post Surgical Garment to Aid Breast Cancer Patients During and After Treatment

During October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Five Percent of Proceeds from Jacki Sales Will Benefit Related Charities

CHATSWORTH, Calif.--()--Silverts, a leading manufacturer and distributor of adaptive clothing, is unveiling an enhanced version of its Jacki® post-surgical recovery garment created specifically for breast cancer patients. Jacki is designed to help patients remain physically comfortable and relieve stress during their treatment.

During October’s “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” Silverts will donate five percent of its sales proceeds from the garment to breast cancer related charities.

Jacki is designed for women of all ages to help facilitate their recovery, enabling patients to dress themselves or be dressed with ease. The loose fitting top, made from super soft material, includes a top shoulder button for easy access and porto-cath. Inside the button down garment are prosthetic pockets on both sides for breast form inserts or ice packs, all-around pocketing to hold multiple pro-surgical drains, and Velcro sleeves for one-handed dressing and easy access during chemotherapy.

“Jacki was devised to bring elements of style and ease of use to help women meet some of the physical and mental challenges they face through treatment and recovery,” said Joshua Norris, General Manager, Silverts.

A clinical study from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, on how garments like Jacki can impact body image for women during their emotionally vulnerable post-operative period concluded that, “the significant impact of Jacki use on body image supports consideration for inclusion of such garments in post-operative care for patient undergoing treatment and recovery.” For the randomized pilot study, responses from 139 women were analyzed.

“While we believe Jacki can make a positive difference in patients’ lives we wanted to go further and assist both breast cancer research organizations and those focused on the equally vital work of patient support,” Norris said.

The funds, donated from five percent of Jacki sales in October, will be divided among 10 different charities including Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Lynne Sage Cancer Research Foundation and Gilda Radner Hereditary Breast Cancer.
