Forbes Ranks Veterans United Home Loans Top Missouri Employer

Will hold virtual career showcase for job applicants on Sept. 2

COLUMBIA, Mo.--()--Veterans United Home Loans, the nation’s largest VA purchase lender, ranked first in Missouri among 90 employers by Forbes. The lender is among 1,461 finalists for the 2020 Forbes ‘America’s Best Employers by State’ ranking.

The second annual America’s Best Employers by State ranking anonymously surveyed 80,000 employees across 50 states and the District of Columbia to compile the list. The respondents were asked to rate their employers on a variety of criteria, including safety of work environment, competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement and their likelihood to recommend their employer to others.

“We are humbled Forbes recognized us as the best employer in Missouri,” said Nate Long, CEO at Veterans United Home Loans. “It is an honor to work alongside so many great people who are dedicated to enhance the lives of Veterans and service members every day through helping them secure homeownership."

Veterans United has experienced major growth in the past two years. The company has approximately 3,700 employees nationwide, and has hired nearly 1,000 people so far in 2020. Currently, there are several hundred openings nationwide.

“I wish there was a way to show the depth of care that our people have for each other, their work, and our borrowers,” said Ian Franz, director of culture at Veterans United. “Being around excellent people makes you want to get better yourself, and it's fun to see what a team like that can do together.”

Veterans United is the largest VA purchase lender in the country. The company’s model focuses on helping Veterans achieve the dream of home ownership by using their earned home loan benefit. Since Fiscal Year 2015, Veterans United has gone from the fifth-largest VA lender to first. Fiscal Year 2020 is on-track to be the company’s best year yet for purchase loans.

In the third quarter of Fiscal Year ‘20, Veterans United originated nearly four times as many VA purchase loans as its nearest competitor. While it does offer refinance opportunities, it does so primarily as a customer service to existing customers.

The company is based in Columbia, Missouri and has corporate offices in Irving, Texas; Lenexa, Kansas; and St. Louis, Missouri. It also has branch offices in about 25 states and is currently in the process of opening a new office in Springfield, Missouri. Opportunities are available at all locations as well as remote.

A virtual career showcase will be held at 3 p.m. CDT on Sept. 2 for interested job applications. The showcase will allow potential job candidates an up-close look at Veterans United’s culture, Diversity and Inclusion programs and available career opportunities. It will give a broad overview of Veterans United’s different divisions. Recruiters will be available to answer any questions during the session. Positions are not limited to production jobs, but include all facets of the company.

Since 2019, Forbes has recognized almost 4,000 employers through its ranking. The finalists represent employers from various industries and the public sector who have at least 500 employees. For an employer to be considered a state finalist, the Forbes and Statistical selection board, determined the number of businesses ranked in each state based on two factors — the number of qualifying employers and the size of the state’s workforce.
