The Los Angeles County Development Authority Partners with Ready to Offer COVID-19 Testing to Seniors Living at South Bay Gardens

The agency is bringing in on-demand healthcare service, Ready, to provide testing for elderly residents, reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19 associated with leaving the home

LOS ANGELES--()--On-demand healthcare service Ready is offering at-home COVID-19 testing and general healthcare options for the residents of the Los Angeles County Development Authority’s (LACDA) senior public housing development, South Bay Gardens. Over 100 residents will have access to Ready’s in-home testing service within the site as a result of the partnership.

Ready is working to improve health outcomes and increase the health and safety of South Bay Gardens residents, who are of low-income and elderly age, by offering them support in their residence as opposed to a clinic or hospital. By delivering quality COVID-19 testing and support directly to residents, Ready is advancing and broadening the opportunities for treatment across the healthcare landscape.

“It is evident that disadvantaged communities of color are enduring the full impact of the pandemic,” said LACDA Acting Executive Director Emilio Salas. “By making COVID-19 tests available onsite, we are eliminating the challenge of residents commuting to testing sites and minimizing the likelihood of further exposure.”

In addition to COVID-19 testing, Ready is prepared to treat a full range of common, non-emergency medical issues including cold and flu symptoms; ear, nose and throat issues; skin issues; and gastrointestinal issues.

“It’s an honor to serve this community that may be delaying healthcare out of fear of exposure or may not have access to COVID-19 testing and treatment,” said Senior Vice President of Partnerships at Ready Alex Blum. “We are thankful the LACDA team was able to identify this group of high-risk residents who need access to coronavirus testing and healthcare services onsite, and take the necessary action to keep them safe.”

Ready is also providing urgent care and at-home COVID-19 tests in Baltimore, New York City, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Reno. The Company plans to expand its services to major urban centers in Florida, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Ready follows guidance from the CDC and local public health authorities when performing COVID-19 testing. The Responders have received COVID-19-specific training and are equipped with the personal protective equipment, including Tyvek suits, gowns, N95 masks, safety goggles and gloves).
