Meet Your 2,000 New Best Friends: Oregon Virtual Academy is Open for Enrollment

NORTH BEND, Ore.--()--Oregon Virtual Academy (ORVA), an online and blended public charter school, is inviting all Oregon families to meet their ~2,000 new best online friends and enroll for 2020-2021 term.

Authorized by the North Bend School District, ORVA’s online program offers a personalized approach to learning, delivering rich, engaging curriculum designed to assist students who seek alternative pathways to education. Students receive support and resources needed to reach their academic goals, and access programs and courses designed to help with career readiness. ORVA is available tuition-free to students.

“ORVA provides an educational experience that can help propel your child’s future,” says Head of School Nicholas Sutherland. “Our students thrive in this kind of learning environment and all students have great peer resources to help take their skills to the next level.”

All ORVA students are offered a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, language arts, and history. ORVA currently offers a career and technical education business pathway that will continue to grow the number of course offerings next year and is in the planning stages for increased Career Pathway options for High School and Middle School students. ORVA also offers student clubs, field trips, social outings, and other activities to foster a sense of school community, including an in-person high school graduation ceremony in the spring.

Virtual classes are taught by Oregon-licensed teachers who communicate with students and families via phone, chat, and email in addition to the required class-connect sessions.

“ORVA is the best option for our son, and we are grateful this kind of opportunity exists in our state,” said Nathalie Sutherland, parent and learning coach for ORVA student Noah. “Our son has great teachers, a supportive environment, and opportunities for social interactions, all while schooling in a safe and secure home environment.”

ORVA is now accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year. Families are encouraged to attend an in-person information session hosted by the school. For more information on how to enroll, and for a schedule of upcoming events, visit orva.k12.com/.
