Secret® Deodorant Canada Joins the PWHPA Dream Gap Tour in Toronto

Proudly supporting as title sponsor in support of equality in Canada’s beloved sport

TORONTO--()--The Professional Women’s Hockey Player’s Association (PWHPA) Dream Gap Tour returns to Toronto for its largest event to date: the Secret® Women’s Hockey Showcase, taking place January 11-12, 2020. The mission of the PWHPA Dream Gap Tour is to draw attention to the continued lack of opportunity and support for professional female hockey players in North America and advocate for a sustainable women’s league. As Title Sponsor of the event, Secret® Deodorant joins the PWHPA to advocate for a meaningful change, where all professional hockey players receive the same opportunities, regardless of gender.

Since 1956 Secret has been committed to supporting women, standing behind those who challenge the status quo and shining a spotlight where there is a gap on equal pay and equal opportunities. We stand proudly with the PWHPA and the women who are fighting for an equal chance to play the sport they love,” said Lisa Reid, Brand Director, Secret® Canada. “Secret believes equal sweat deserves equal opportunity. We hope all Canadians will join us to push for a more equal future in hockey.”

We are honoured to join forces with Secret,” said Jayna Hefford, Operations Consultant, PWHPA. “Supporting women in our fight for equality isn’t just what they do, it’s WHO they are and have always been. They will be a great ally, both on and off the ice, as we continue to push for a better tomorrow.”

The Secret® Women’s Hockey Showcase will bring six teams of 120 athletes from across North America for two days of action-packed hockey. The event will showcase the best players in the world including Marie-Philip Poulin, Natalie Spooner, Hilary Knight, Kendall Coyne and many more. Being able to play hockey professionally without the pressure of having to worry about the financial aspect has always been an unattainable dream. On the ice, our women hockey players put in the same training and work just as hard’, said Professional Hockey Player, Sarah Nurse. “With Secret’s support, we are one step closer to achieving a sustainable league for women hockey players.”

Canadians can also show their support of women’s professional hockey by lacing up their skates and hitting the ice for a free family fun national skate rally on Saturday, January 4, 2020, in Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.

Ice times include:

  • Toronto Rally: Harbourfront Centre Natrel Rink: 10:00 a.m. – 02:00 p.m. EST
