Shawn R. White named General Counsel of The Broad Foundations

LOS ANGELES--()--Shawn R. White, an experienced attorney and Los Angeles native, has joined The Broad Foundations and the Broad Family Office in the role of General Counsel. White has a breadth of experience advising non-profit and for-profit organizations, and extensive expertise with contracts, intellectual property, strategic global transactions, exempt organizations, governance and investments. White assumed the role of General Counsel in September.

White began her legal career as a corporate associate in the Latin American practice of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, LLP’s New York office. After leaving the law firm, White served as an in-house lawyer as Vice President - Corporate Counsel at Prudential, Chief Legal Counsel to the Prudential Foundation and General Counsel to a minority-owned federally chartered depository institution.

White earned her law degree from Stanford Law School and her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Barnard College at Columbia University. White is a member of the State Bars of California and New York, the Black Women Lawyers Association, the National Bar Association, the Langston Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
