FHE Health Named “Primary Provider of Choice” by National Fraternal Order of Police

New Partnership Helps More Members of Law Enforcement and Their Families Access Quality Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.--()--Thanks to a new partnership between the nationally recognized behavioral health provider FHE Health and the National Fraternal Order of Police (NFOP), thousands of police from around the country and their close loved ones now have better access to high-quality treatment for PTSD, addictions and other mental health disorders.

Under the terms of the new agreement, FHE Health is a “primary provider of choice” for the NFOP’s approximately 350,000 members nationwide, meaning that NFOP members and family members are eligible for priority placement in FHE Health’s specialized inpatient treatment program for police officers. “Shatterproof,” as it’s called, treats first responders, including members of law enforcement, for PTSD, substance abuse and other mental health conditions.

“FHE Health is now the acute inpatient program for the NFOP,” said FHE Health National Outreach Liaison Jeff Weinstein, when asked to describe what the FHE-NFOP partnership means. Weinstein, who helped broker the partnership, was quick to note how it is already helping more of the brave men and women who risk their lives every day in the line of fire: “We’re now treating officers from literally the four corners of the country, from Maine to Miami Beach, from Oregon to Phoenix, Arizona,” Weinstein said. He said that over half of the NFOP referrals that FHE receives are for family members of police officers.

Why FHE Health Designated as NFOP Primary Provider – “Shatterproof” for Cops and First Responders

The NFOP chose FHE Health as a primary provider of choice after vetting treatment programs nationwide. FHE’s specialized program for cops and first responders (“Shatterproof”) was the preferred treatment option because of a few factors. One was FHE’s Neuro Rehab program, which identifies and therapeutically targets areas of brain dysfunction, thereby speeding recovery and improving long-term outcomes. Another factor was Shatterproof’s trauma-based treatment approach and the medical, clinical and other wraparound treatments and services that address trauma and related mental health issues. The peer group emphasis in Shatterproof was yet another draw: Participants in the program receive support from a group of peers (cops and other first responders) who can relate well to one another’s problems and experiences.
