Pharmacy Times Continuing Education Presents Live Virtual Symposium on Novel Therapies for Treating Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder

The program will identify the roles that specialty and infusion pharmacists play when treating neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder

CRANBURY, N.J.--()--Pharmacy Times Continuing Education™ (PTCE), a leader in continuing education for retail, health-system, managed care, oncology and specialty pharmacists, will host the live virtual symposium, “Novel Therapies for Treating Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: The Role of the Specialty and Infusion Pharmacist,” on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 7-8 p.m. EST. The symposium will examine the rare disease neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and the associated pathophysiology, epidemiology and clinical presentation.

The symposium will feature Erica Marini, Pharm.D., MS, BCPS, clinical pharmacist in the department of neurology at the University of Utah Health.

“We are excited to have Erica Marini presenting this live virtual symposium,” said Jim Palatine, RPh, MBA, president of PTCE. “NMOSD is a rare and devastating disease, and it is our goal to prepare specialty and infusion pharmacists to be able to differentiate between NMOSD and multiple sclerosis.”

Throughout the activity, videos will demonstrate appropriate medication preparation techniques and highlight critical educational points for specialty and infusion pharmacists. This symposium will also identify practices for preparing, dispensing and monitoring new and emerging treatment therapies for NMOSD as well as counseling patients.

Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, this activity is approved for 1.0 contact hour and is supported by an educational grant from Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
