Wild Sky Media Names Emily Smith Chief Executive Officer

Johanna Torres to take over as SVP of Content & Marketing

NEW YORK--()--Wild Sky Media, a top parenting media platform behind the recently launched Mom.com, has named Emily Smith as its Chief Executive Officer. The company also announced that Johanna Torres has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Content & Marketing, assuming Smith’s previous duties in that area.

Since joining Wild Sky Media in 2017, Smith has played a key role – first as an SVP and later as President – in spearheading the company through a significant transitional period. Under her leadership, the portfolio, which, in addition to Mom.com, includes CafeMom, LittleThings, Revelist and MamásLatinas, has become a leading parenting information destination for modern-day moms seeking timely information and purpose-driven advice as well as advertising partners looking to reach an engaged audience of parents.

“I am honored to serve as CEO of Wild Sky Media and look forward to working with our extraordinary team to continue enhancing our portfolio and growing this business,” said Smith. “The parenting category is prime for a next generation of brands, for experiences that reflect a young woman’s point of view and a recognition that her phone is always within reach. Unlike most of our competitors, we are intentionally built for this most diverse generation of women ever to enter their childbearing years.

“Our experience has shown that by putting our audience first, and earning her loyalty and trust, we can take the lead in establishing ourselves as the dominant portal for our brand partners and agency clients who seek to understand these women and create solutions for their busy lives.”

Smith has decades of experience in leadership roles at leading digital media companies. Prior to joining Wild Sky Media, she served as Chief Growth Officer, President of Media at Brit + Co where she led all product, marketing and growth efforts, enabling a reach of over 129 million people across the core site and social platforms. She has also held leadership roles at Tribune Publishing Company and The Walt Disney Company. Smith earned a B.A. in English from the University of California, Berkeley.

Torres has served in leading roles across a range of different media platforms, including as MamásLatinas´s Founding Editor-in-Chief. In her most recent role as Vice President of Content and Editorial Development at Wild Sky Media, she assembled a first-class team of editors and writers, creating unique content driving unique visitors and pageviews.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of such a flourishing, next-level digital media company,” said Torres. “I am thrilled to be a part of the dynamic team that has helped Wild Sky Media become the premiere source for everything Moms want and need to know,” said Torres.

Torres holds a B.S. in Communications from Boston University.
