Anyone who visits one of 600 participating pharmacies in California will receive one free scoop of Thrifty Ice Cream when they get their seasonal flu shot. Customers who get immunized against the flu by September 30 can redeem their coupon through October 6 at any location that features a hand-dipped Thrifty Ice Cream counter.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone six months and older get a flu shot early to avoid an epidemic. In California, children ages three and older are able to get a flu immunization at a pharmacy. Certain groups of people are at greater risk for complications from the flu, including people with diabetes, pregnant women, adults over 65, children under five, those with asthma and other chronic lung diseases, those with kidney and liver disorders, heart disease patients, and those with compromised immune systems.
Flu shots are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare Part B, and are available during pharmacy hours; no appointment is necessary.
