NEW YORK--()--Comcast Spotlight, the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable, today announced that it has appointed Melanie Hamilton as vice president, national sales.

In this role, Hamilton will spearhead the company’s national sales strategy across both holding companies and independent agencies. In doing so, she will lead Comcast Spotlight’s national sales team, serving as a business partner, advisor and mentor. Hamilton will also work closely with Comcast Spotlight leadership to accelerate growth through innovative sales strategies and build relationships with new and existing clients and industry entities.

Hamilton joins the company next month and reports to Comcast Spotlight Chief Revenue Officer Brendan Condon.

“We were looking for someone who has a strong track record of sales success, but who is also equally committed to – and passionate about – developing and leading workplace talent, cultivating relationships and approaching new opportunities and challenges with an entrepreneurial spirit,” Condon said. “Melanie embodies all of these traits, as evidenced through her impressive career and we are very excited that she is joining Comcast Spotlight.”

An 11-year veteran of Google, Hamilton was most recently the company’s telecom “Head of Industry” (HOI) and spearheaded its AT&T account. She led a bicoastal, cross-functional team responsible for identifying and creating new opportunities for AT&T across Google’s suite of marketing, ad tech and cloud products.

Before that, Hamilton helmed Google’s retail sector, serving as the HOI for brands such as Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord + Taylor and other big box retailers. She was appointed to the position after a five-year stint as the HOI for Google’s financial services sector, during which time she managed the company’s relationship with advertisers such as GEICO, Capital One and JPMorgan Chase.

Prior to Google, Hamilton worked at NBCUniversal, where she was a director overseeing strategic sales and marketing for the company’s local media division and a sales account manager for NBC11 (KNTV) in San Francisco. She joined the NBCU sales associate program after earning her B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.

“I’m very much looking forward to joining Comcast Spotlight. It’s a coming home of sorts for me,” Hamilton said. “There’s a lot going on there – from the launch of timely research such as the ‘New TV’ report to new industry solutions like Instant Impact. I’m drawn to the energy and passion of the team there and look forward to doing more!”

Hamilton also holds an executive MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. She lives with her husband and two sons in New York City.
