Healthcare Disparity for Hispanics, Barriers to Affordable Access to Culturally Relevant, Bilingual Care for Under- and Uninsured Documented in Hoy Health White Paper

MORRISTOWN, N.J.--()--Hoy Health LLC announces the release of its white paper, “Affordable Access to Care for Hispanics and Medically Underserved” outlining the extent and impact of healthcare disparity among Hispanics and other underserved populations living in the United States. Authored by Mario Anglada, CEO, Hoy Health, the paper stresses that considering Hispanics are projected to comprise almost 29 percent of the U.S. population by 2050, this issue will continue to expand and impact the entire U.S. healthcare system.

“The reality is that Hispanics facing healthcare barriers in the United States serve as a microcosm of how the system fails the underserved consumer/patient,” Anglada says. “Rather than being provided care in a systematic way, they are folded in with the general population, despite most of them undergoing a sub-optimal experience in healthcare resulting from cultural and language differences. Hoy Health’s HIPAA-compliant solutions effectively address these critical cultural and language issues and improve access to affordable Rx drugs, chronic condition management programs, and telehealth/virtual care.”

Hispanic health disparity is shaped by cultural/language barriers, lack of access to preventive and primary care, and the lack of health insurance. Thirty-one percent do not speak English well enough to navigate the current healthcare system; 22.6 percent live under the poverty line and can’t afford basic primary care needs; only seven percent of U.S. physicians are Hispanic; and at least one-fourth of Hispanic adults in the United States don’t have a primary healthcare provider.

“Hispanics also have the highest uninsured rates of any racial or ethnic group within the United States,” Anglada adds. “We are focused on solutions to address these disparities by drastically simplifying access to quality health and wellness products, and enabling individuals to get low cost medications and better manage chronic health conditions.”
