NEW YORK--()--In celebration of National Rum Day on Friday, August 16th, Brugal 1888 Rum is paying one lucky winner $1,888 to bring the spirit of the Dominican Republic into their home.

For a limited time only, 1888 Rum is giving consumers the ultimate way to relax, unwind and sip the Dominican’s ultimate treasure – 1888 Rum. 1888 Rum is asking rum enthusiasts to elevate their living room furniture by adding a handwoven hammock from the Dominican Republic, to kick back, relax and enter “vacation mode” in the comfort of their own homes, in exchange for $1,888. The $1,888 is a gift from 1888 Rum to help further create an oasis in their everyday life.

Americans spend entirely too much time at home on their couch, watching television or scrolling through their phones. But on vacation, people typically spend more time exploring and savoring the moment. 1888 Rum is working to bring this state of mind to more consumers in their everyday lives, encouraging them to stop, relax and savor the moment.

For a chance to win $1,888 and a bespoke Brugal 1888 Rum hammock, consumers can follow @BrugalUSA on Instagram, comment on the National Rum Day post with which type of 1888 Rum cocktail they would like to enjoy in the hammock and tagging the person they want to drink it with. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and live in participating states.

One winner will receive $1,888 and a handwoven, freestanding hammock, inspired by the netting that encases the 1888 Rum bottle, originally created to signify luxury. The wood frame made to resemble the bourbon and sherry casks used during 1888 Rum’s double-ageing process has a lingering sherry scent that remains from the bespoke branding that is meticulously burned onto the surface. Of course, no vacation hammock is complete without a glass of rum, so 1888 Rum’s hammock comes equipped with a cupholder perfectly designed to hold a rocks glass.

Rooted in passion, dedication & hard work, Brugal Rum was founded in Puerto Plata, Dominica in 1888 and has been perfecting its craft for over 130 years.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Must be 21 or older to enter. Open to legal residents of CA, FL and NY, age 21+. Void where prohibited. Starts 8/16/19; ends 8/23/19. For full Official Rules, visit

Brugal 1888 is a truly extraordinary rum, produced in the Dominican Republic, that combines the rich flavors of bourbon and sherry casks through a double-aging process. It’s a complex yet balanced spirit that stimulates the senses and evolves in the glass – recommended to be enjoyed sip-by-sip.

Double distilled and double aged in American oak followed by Spanish sherry casks, Brugal 1888 is extremely smooth and sweet with light spices and smoke. Aging brings out deep caramel and vanilla tones with faint spice. Finish is long and mellow.

With a rich history in Puerto Plata (dating back to 1888, nearly 130 years ago), with Don Andres Brugal Montaner, the rum is still crafted by the Brugal Family; now by 5th generation Jassil Villanueva Quintana & Gustavo Ortega Zeller.
