HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As the summer season is upon us and the old familiar brutal Texas heat comes forth, Houstonians will be out in droves for a blissful swim in the pool, lake, or beach to cool off. However, with increased social activity comes increased risk. According to 2019 statistics by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, 39 children have drowned in the state of Texas alone. Contrary to popular belief, drowning can occur in almost any amount of water, regardless of being indoor or outdoor.
That is why Karya Kares, a non-profit foundation founded by Swapnil Agarwal and his wife Deepika, have teamed up with Bridging Gaps TX to help combat these all too common but preventable tragedies. At select apartments, managed by Karya Property Management, Bridging Gaps is hosting free water safety training and swimming lessons for resident children, ages 3-12. Residents at the 3Corners East, 3Corners North, Establishment, Hammerly Oaks, Providence at Champions, and Village at Piney Point will be offered professional lessons under the instruction of Michael Bridges. Throughout his 10+ years of teaching experience, Mr. Bridges has had the opportunity to train with multiple U.S. Olympians, taught hundreds of lessons around the Houston area, and is certified through the American Red Cross.
While we can never fully prevent tragedies from occurring, Mr. Swapnil Agarwal & Karya Kares believe we can arm ourselves with the knowledge and skill sets to help guard against them.
