ST. PAUL, Minn.--()--Minnesotans for Line 3 today delivered over 11,000 comments to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) from people across the state who support Enbridge’s Line 3 Replacement Pipeline Project. The comments are in response to a number of different applications submitted by Enbridge for permits that are needed before project construction can begin. The deadline for submitting comments is May 17th.

“People across Minnesota not only understand how important Line 3 is, but they also know it has been reviewed like no other project of its kind and it’s time to move forward,” said Abby Loucks, a member of Minnesotans for Line 3. “The support we helped gather over the past few weeks is important because it comes from people who live in northern Minnesota and are also from across the state. We are confident this process is nearing the end and we will soon be able to focus on construction that will be good for Minnesota and even better for the environment.”

Minnesotans for Line 3 also released a map today that shows the locations of people who signed cards and petitions in support of the project. Comments submitted by Line 3 supporters to the DNR focused on the environmental benefits and importance of replacing an aging part of Minnesota’s energy infrastructure as well as the need for the permitting process to move forward.

The review of Line 3 has gone on for more than four years and the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission has four times unanimously voted to approve it. The company also needs permits from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, which is expected to hold a public comment period this summer. Both Agencies decisions about Line 3 permits are anticipated by November.
