Mozart, Handel and Schütz to be Celebrated in The City Choir of Washington’s Acclaimed 2018-19 Season Finale

The City Choir of Washington (TCCW) and Chamber Orchestra

Led by Artistic Director Robert Shafer, with

Crossley Danielle Hawn, Soprano; Kristen Dubenion-Smith, Mezzo-soprano;

Norman Shankle, Tenor; Kerry Wilkerson, Bass; and

Todd Fickley, organist.

The concert is the fourth and final concert event of TCCW’s 2018-19 concert season concluding Sunday, May 19 with Baroque & Beyond; a concert celebrating composers Mozart, Handel, and Heinrich Schütz’ thrilling and rarely-heard Uppsala Magnificat, a piece originally composed (1665) for three choirs and orchestra.

Among the individuals and organizations contributing to the concert are Lecturer Teresa Neff, Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Elizabeth Schreiber-Byers, Ph.D., Cultural Programs Curator, Goethe Institut; and, Ulrich Leisinger, Ph.D., Musicologist and Director of Research, International Mozart Foundation.

The Austrian Cultural Forum Washington, Embassy of Austria, Washington, DC also provided assistance.

TCCW is pleased and appreciative to once again be participating in Do More 24, an area-wide effort to support a variety of non-profit organizations including TCCW, taking place noon to noon, May 22-23.
