Aspen Dental Offers Free Dental Care to Thousands of Military Veterans Nationwide

Nearly 500 Aspen Dental-branded Dental Offices to Participate in Sixth Annual ‘Day of Service’ on June 8

Patients Can Call 844-ASPENHMM to Schedule an Appointment

CHICAGO--()--In an effort to give back to those who’ve served our country, Aspen Dental, the largest branded network of dental practices in the U.S., is proud to announce its sixth annual Day of Service event. On Saturday, June 8, more than 450 Aspen Dental-branded offices will open their doors exclusively to veterans and provide dental care at no cost.

More than one in three American adults did not visit the dentist last year, and the most common barriers include cost, lack of insurance and fear. These roadblocks can be especially challenging for former military personnel, since U.S. veterans are ineligible for dental benefits through the Veterans Administration unless they’re 100% disabled, have a service-related mouth injury or were a prisoner of war.

“Breaking down barriers to care is at the very core of what we do,” said Dr. Anita Imadomwanyi, director of clinical support and charitable giving, Aspen Dental Management, Inc. (ADMI). “The Healthy Mouth Movement and annual Day of Service are continuously among the most impactful initiatives that we champion at Aspen Dental, as they fill the underserved gap in the industry that continues to delay veteran access to necessary dental care. It’s just one more example of how dentists and team members across Aspen Nation are committed to being a ‘Yes’ organization.”

Since launching the Healthy Mouth Movement in 2014, dentists and their teams from Aspen Dental-branded offices across the country have donated more than $15 million in dentistry to over 22,000 veterans and people in need through their volunteer efforts. Aspen Dental will also look to build on the success of last year’s Day of Service campaign, in which more than 4,300 veterans across the country received free dental care at 426 participating Aspen Dental locations.

How Veterans Can Schedule an Appointment

Starting today, veterans nationwide can call 1-844-277-3646 (1-844-ASPENHMM) to find a participating Aspen Dental office in their community and schedule an appointment during the annual Day of Service on June 8. Advance appointments are required. During the Day of Service, Aspen Dental dentists and teams treat the most urgent needs of each veteran to ensure they are relieved of any dental pain, including anything from fillings and extractions to basic denture repairs. Routine cleanings and exams are also provided.

In addition to the efforts of local volunteers on the Day of Service, the Healthy Mouth Movement is also reaching veterans through its MouthMobile, a 42-foot long fully equipped dentist office on wheels that travels state to state providing free care to veterans in communities where care may not be easy to access. Since launching in 2014, The MouthMobile has made nearly 150 stops and travelled approximately 125,000 miles.
