Missouri American Water Plans $650,000 Wastewater Facility Upgrade in Eugene

Company is using innovative solution to meet new regulations at lower cost

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.--()--Missouri American Water is beginning work on a project to upgrade the existing wastewater lagoons at its Lake Carmel wastewater treatment facility beginning in late April 2019.

The $650,000 project, scheduled to last through August 2019, will upgrade the facility’s treatment process with the Triplepoint’s NitrOx system to remove ammonia from the wastewater. This will help the company meet new more stringent water quality regulations and improve the quality of water in Clark Fork.

“The NitrOx system is an innovative technology,” said Robert Goeltz, Senior Project Engineer. “It not only meets the current ammonia limits but is also capable of meeting the potential future more stringent regulations. In addition, it is significantly less in both capital and operations costs than conventional ammonia removal technologies.”

Missouri American Water annually invests more than $200 million statewide in infrastructure improvements, including projects such as this.
