Virginia Virtual Academy Opens Enrollment for the 2019-2020 School Year

HERNDON, Va.--()--Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA), an online public school program available tuition-free to students across the Commonwealth, is now accepting enrollment applications for students in grades K-11. The statewide program, of the King and Queen County Public Schools, the Patrick County Public Schools and the Richmond City Public Schools, offers a robust and comprehensive online curriculum.

Students are offered a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, language arts, history, art and music, as well as an array of electives. They attend live virtual classes taught by experienced and dedicated state-licensed teachers.

“At VAVA, we know that every student learns in their own unique way,” said Suzanne Sloane, VAVA’s head of school. “Every member of our staff—from our teachers to our school administrators—strive to reach students where they are and help them succeed.”

In addition to live online sessions, teachers regularly connect with students and their families via email, phone, and in-course chat opportunities. Students also have access to resources such as books, workbooks and instructional materials for course projects and to complete required classwork.

Students choose online school for a variety of reasons including advanced learning, a bullying-free environment, and a schedule that allows for extracurricular pursuits or medical needs. ALVA-ECS’s online platform gives students the freedom to pursue their academic goals in a supportive environment and at an appropriate pace for their learning style.

Outside of the virtual classroom, VAVA offers online student clubs and in-person field trips, community service opportunities, and social gatherings to foster a sense of school community.

Enrollment is now open for the 2019-2020 school year. Students and families are encouraged to attend an online or in-person information session hosted by the school. More information on VAVA, how to enroll and a schedule of upcoming events can be found at vava.k12.com.
