1,000 Risk Management Professionals Awarded Certified Third Party Risk Professional Certification from The Shared Assessments Program

Certification Extends and Validates Expertise, Professional Credibility; Next Session to be Conducted at the 2019 Shared Assessments Third Party Risk Summit, April 10-11, 2019

SANTA FE, N.M.--()--The Shared Assessments Program, the member-driven leader in third party risk assurance, today announced that 1,000 risk management professionals have been awarded its Certified Third Party Risk Professional (CTPRP) designation, having completed coursework and testing to earn the valued certification. The next CTPRP session will be conducted in conjunction with the twelfth annual Shared Assessments Third Party Risk Summit, April 10-11, 2019.

“The dramatic uptick in third party-related vulnerabilities, along with new and evolving regulatory mandates, have driven the demand for risk management professionals with the depth and scope of knowledge and practical skills to help organizations manage third party risk,” said Shared Assessments Chairman and CEO Catherine A. Allen. “The CTPRP designation is an important attestation of the recipient’s expertise and credibility, and is a recognized hallmark of best practices in third party risk management – both for the recipient and for their organization. We congratulate the recipients of this important benchmark on their expertise and career path.”

The CTPRP is viewed as a key credential for third party risk, procurement and compliance professionals, including business vendor managers, risk (vendor or operational) managers, vendor IT security managers, IT auditors/assessors and IS auditors/professionals. The certification demonstrates that the recipient has received comprehensive training in and possesses a thorough working knowledge of third party risk management concepts and principles, including:

  • Managing the vendor lifecycle.
  • Vendor risk identification and rating.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of vendor risk assessment, monitoring and management.

"As a Senior Information Security Manager, I lead a team of professionals that serve as trusted advisors to each line of business within the organization. It is imperative that our team not only utilizes a standardized approach while assessing hundreds of third party vendors on a global scale, but also maintains the most efficient level of communication with other business functions,” said Ron Bradley, Senior Manager of Information Security for a Fortune 100 consumer packaged goods company. “The Shared Assessments CTPRP certification program provides an excellent depth of knowledge on third party risk management best practices, while validating the cross-functional benefit of having all business functions well-versed in third party risk management language and methodologies.”

The next CTPRP session is expected to be the largest of Shared Assessments’ in-person training and certification session for 2019 and will be conducted in conjunction with the twelfth annual Shared Assessments Third Party Risk Summit, April 10-11, 2019, at The Ritz Carlton - Pentagon City, Arlington, VA. CTPRP certification courses are also available online. For more information, visit: https://sharedassessme.wpengine.com/ctprp/.

Shared Assessments also recently introduced the 2019 Third Party Risk Management Toolkit, a popular set of third party risk management (TPRM) tools, best practices, research and resources. The Toolkit is used by both member and non-member organizations worldwide to help manage their full vendor assessment relationship lifecycle – from planning a third party risk management program, to building and capturing assessments, to benchmarking and ongoing evaluation of a program.

The CTPRP Certification, like the Third Party Risk Management Toolkit, was developed by Shared Assessments and reflects and leverages the insight and experience of the Shared Assessments membership, a global community of experienced third party risk management practitioners in a broad array of industries.
