CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Great American Insurance Group is pleased to announce the promotion of Anthony (Tony) J. Mercurio and David L. Thompson Jr. to Executive Vice President of its Property and Casualty Group.
Mr. Mercurio will continue to serve as President & CEO of National Interstate – a position he has held since 2016. Since joining National Interstate in 1997, he has held a variety of leadership positions within the organization. Specifically, Mr. Mercurio led the acquisition of Vanliner Insurance Company in 2010 and ultimately served as CEO of that organization. He has 24 years of industry experience.
Mr. Mercurio earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from The University of Mount Union and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cleveland State University.
Mr. Thompson has served as Senior Vice President of Great American’s P&C Group since 2016. He joined the Company in 2006 and since that time, has held various positions of increasing responsibility within the organization, including Divisional President for the AgriBusiness® Division. Mr. Thompson recently served as Senior Reporting Officer with responsibility for six P&C businesses, oversight of the P&C Group’s Predictive Analytics function and the Dempsey and Siders Agency. He has 13 years of industry experience.
Mr. Thompson earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Economics from Wheaton College.
