MicroPact Powers Illinois Opioid Alternative Pilot Program

Illinois extends the use of entellitrak® in support of medical cannabis programs to address opioid abuse.

HERNDON, Va.--()--MicroPact, the passion and technology that’s transforming government, has implemented a system for the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Office of Health Promotion (OHPm) in support of a new program that provides access to medical cannabis as an alternative to opioids for pain control. MicroPact is providing entellitrak®, a low-code application development platform for case management, to power the Illinois Cannabis Tracking System (ICTS).

On August 28, 2018, the Alternatives to Opioids Act of 2018 was signed into Illinois law. The act established the Opioid Alternative Pilot Program, which allows certain patients who otherwise would or could be prescribed opioids, or have already been prescribed opioids, access to medical cannabis as an alternative. The entellitrak-based ICTS went live on January 31, 2019. It is used to register eligible applicants and coordinate the overall program. MicroPact also provides support for the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program (MCPP).

“The vision for the Opioid Alternative Pilot Program is to reduce opioid deaths in Illinois, by giving patients another option for dealing with their conditions,” said Conny Mueller Moody, MBA, Deputy Director, Office of Health Promotion/Medical Cannabis for Illinois. “MicroPact has been a strong partner as we’ve worked to launch the ICTS system, and we’ve relied on its expertise and technology to go live with this program.”

“The opioid crisis is a national Public Health Emergency. The individuals tackling this problem require innovative thinking and powerful technology,” said Kris Collo, Founder, President and CEO of MicroPact. “MicroPact is proud to be supporting the bold strategy that Illinois is using to combat opioid misuse. With the strong case management, licensing, and regulatory experience MicroPact brings to the project, entellitrak is an ideal choice to help automate the enrollment in the Opioid Alternative Pilot Program.”

MicroPact is providing licenses, maintenance, and support for ICTS users. The system will be hosted on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. MicroPact has achieved Advanced Technology Partner status in the AWS Partner Network.

MicroPact powers Medical Marijuana support systems in multiple U.S. states, enabling state agencies to process patient and caregiver applications, renewals, and payments while ensuring efficient registration and enforcement.
