SendBird Achieves SOC2 Compliance Demonstrating its Commitment to Secure In-App Chat and Messaging

Company affirms its commitment to privacy and security by receiving SOC2 report and achieving ISO27001 and HIPAA compliance in less than a year

SAN MATEO, Calif.--()--SendBird, the fully customizable chat and messaging platform for enterprise, consumer, mobile, and web applications, today announced that it received a Service Organization Controls (SOC2) Type 2 report after successfully undergoing a SOC2 examination for the design and operating effectiveness of controls related to the security, availability, and confidentiality of its systems for processing user data. The SOC2 report demonstrates the high quality of controls that SendBird maintains to manage critical chat, messaging, and other related data, thus ensuring customers that SendBird securely manages critical and sensitive communications for businesses.

"Receiving the SOC2 Type 2 report is not only a testament to the design of our information management system, but specifically shows that the day-to-day operations effectively ensure the security and privacy of our customers’ sensitive communications,” said Brandon Jeon, the Head of Trust and Safety at SendBird. “SOC2 is the standard for effective data control among communication platforms, one that tells our clients that they can trust SendBird with their user data especially in the recent climate of privacy violations committed by other tech companies.”

The audit was conducted by the multinational professional services firm KPMG in accordance with trust criteria set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The SOC2 report intends to give third-parties detailed information about a business’s controls for the security, availability, and integrity of systems used to process user data and to assure third-parties of its quality and confidentiality.

In addition to SOC2, SendBird has also developed systems and procedures for GDPR, added HIPAA compliance, and became one of the first companies in its space to add ISO 27001 certification--all within the last 12 months.
