LAKE VILLA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Key Resources Inc., the leader in mainframe vulnerability scanning solutions and consultancy, today announced enhancements to its z/Assure® Security Conversion Utility™ (SCU). Improvements to the platform, including two-way encryption for password propagation, expanded conversion capabilities, and a backout process that allow teams to manage conversions at their own pace, further ensure that mainframe security and operations teams can seamlessly migrate from one Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) to another while maintaining data accuracy and quality.
Mainframe professionals use one of three ESM solutions to manage the security of their environment – CA ACF2®, CA Top Secret® or RACF®. If and when they decide to change their ESM solution, either because of a technical preference, operational challenges, or changes in the marketplace, they’ll have to undergo a manual process that’s often time-consuming and labor-intensive.
z/Assure SCU from Key Resources, Inc. simplifies ESM conversions through a proven and tested proprietary methodology that eliminates tasks like manual database population. Automated database cleanup ensures staff don’t have to spend time manually reviewing and removing unused USERIDs and groups, for example. The tool even offers an easy, optional solution to transfer existing passwords over to the new security package, which makes it simple for mainframe staff to get up and running on their new ESM quickly.
New capabilities include:
- Two-way encryption – z/Assure SCU now offers two-way encryption during password propagation, bolstering security when teams transfer their existing passwords to a new ESM
- Expanded conversion capabilities – z/Assure SCU now offers the ability to convert from homegrown IBM Db2 databases to RACF.
- Flexible management capabilities – z/Assure SCU now includes a backout process that allows teams to pause and return to conversions at a later time, empowering them to complete migrations at their own pace.
“Mainframes are mission-critical in large enterprises, and security staff have to make important decisions about how they secure these systems. Part of that means choosing an ESM solution that they feel they can trust to monitor their environment,” said Ray Overby, president and co-founder of Key Resources Inc. “We created z/Assure SCU to make it fast and easy for staff to convert from one tool to another, so they spend less time on manual configurations and more time adding value to the business.”
z/Assure SCU increases data accuracy and content quality in the newly generated security database. The tool can also be combined with z/Assure Security Merge Utility™ (SMU), a separate solution that can be used to merge multiple ESM databases into one. Together, both tools offer a comprehensive and automated solution for managing an organization’s ESM databases.
