Kickoff Event! JFlex - A Conversation with Kenji Natsume, Former Sit-skier of Team Japan: The Cutting-edge Sports and Rehabilitation Equipment Technology for a Wellness Society

TOKYO--()--The Converting Technical Institute and JTB Communication Design will hold the first ever “JFlex” flexible device material and converting technology exhibition at Tokyo Big Sight from Wednesday, January 30th to Friday, February 1st, 2019.

As a special part of the JFlex kickoff event, we will welcome Kenji Natsume, a former sit-skier (World Championship 2017, World Cup, and PyeongChang Paralympics) and member of RDS, to join a panel discussion with a rehabilitation center expert and a sensor manufacturer working towards practical motion sensing and piezoelectric textile clothing. Under the keywords of “sports” and “rehabilitation,” the three panel members will discuss the current challenges and future outlook of such equipment from the perspective of the manufacturing techniques required for design and fabrication. In addition, they will also offer their thoughts on the use of data from vitals sensors. We hope you take this opportunity to check out the future technologies that will enable a “Wellness Society” in which athletes and sports lovers, as well as all people, will have a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle in the near future.

JFlex will also feature many products and technologies of interest, including flexible hybrid electronics, ultra-thin glass sheets, and thin-film batteries. We hope that you take this opportunity to experience the now of the flexible devices that are changing the future.

  • POSH WELLNESS LABORATORY Make the world smarter by using electrical impedance
[Booth No. 2X-07 Advanced Printed Electronics Consortium]
Wearable EIT, Seatbelt Cover Sensor, Electrode for Wearable
  • Murata Manufacturing [2Y-11] Picoleaf ®/ Flexible Sensor with Piezo Film, All-Solid-State Thin-Film Battery
  • Nakasaku [2T-08] Flat glass bending technology
We create opportunities to provide this technology. This is the world's first thin plate glass bending technology.
Our unique techniques using this technology does not cause heat shock and bent glass will not crack.
Heating is carried out in certain areas which enables bending the parts you want to bend in a short amount of time.
  • Nippon Electric Glass GLASS FOR FUTURE [2V-20] Ultra-thin Glass G-Leaf
G-Leaf is the glass that thickness is under 0.2mm. G-Leaf is excellent in flexibility that makes the glass bendable while keeping the conventional characteristics of glass. G-Leaf is a new material expected to contribute to the advancement of technologies and products in a wider range of fields.
