Haeggquist & Eck, LLP Investigates Marriott Data Breach

SAN DIEGO--()--Haeggquist & Eck, LLP, a leading consumer and shareholder rights litigation firm, is investigating the circumstances giving rise to Marriott International, Inc.’s (“Marriott” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: MAR) November 30, 2018 announcement (the “Announcement”) that private data concerning up to 500 million guests has been improperly taken or copied from its Starwood reservation system (the “Breach”). The Breach reportedly started as early as 2014. The information reportedly exposed, or at risk, in the multi-year Breach includes customer names, birth dates, passport numbers, credit card numbers, travel dates, and contact information such as e-mail addresses and phone numbers.

Haeggquist & Eck is examining the nature and scope of the Breach, and why it reportedly went undetected for nearly four years. Not only have millions of Marriott’s guests been impacted by the Breach, but Marriott’s shareholders were impacted by an over 6% decline in the Company’s stock price immediately following the Announcement. Class actions on behalf of impacted guests and shareholders have been commenced.

Marriott, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, reports that the Breach impacts a variety of its Starwood properties, including W Hotels, St. Regis, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Element Hotels, Aloft Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Tribute Portfolio, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton and Design Hotels, as well as Starwood branded timeshare properties.
