A.P. Møller-Maersk CEO Confirms Participation at 2019 TPM Conference

Held annually, the largest container shipping conference will be held in Long Beach on 3-6 March 2019

NEW YORK--()--IHS Markit (Nasdaq: INFO), a world leader in critical information, analytics and solutions, today announced that Søren Skou, CEO of A.P. Moller – Maersk, the integrated container logistics company, has confirmed his participation at the 2019 TPM Conference, which is organized and hosted by JOC (Journal of Commerce), part of the Maritime & Trade business at IHS Markit.

Maersk confirmed that Skou will participate in a live question and answer (Q&A) session at the conference to be held in Long Beach on 3-6 March 2019. Moderating the session, Peter Tirschwell, senior director for editorial content at JOC, will discuss with Skou a wide range of current challenges confronting shippers of containerized cargo globally. Skou will discuss the company’s transformation from a diversified shipping and energy enterprise to a global integrator of container logistics focused on end-to-end shipping and logistics on a global basis.

Skou is also expected to discuss a number of other topics including major trends in logistics and technology, the evolving state of the container market as well as digitalization, how it is impacting the industry and the opportunities arising from it.

“Søren Skou is leading what for a container shipping company is an unprecedented transformation into a new breed of logistics provider,” said Tirschwell. “That alone will make a conversation with him extremely interesting and timely.”

Skou has been CEO of Maersk since June 2016. He has spent a distinguished career at the company beginning in 1983, serving as CEO of Maersk Line and prior to that CEO of Maersk Tankers, in addition to roles in the US and China. This will be his third appearance on the program of the TPM conference.

Held annually since 2001, the TPM conference is the world’s largest container shipping event, bringing together over 2,300 attendees representing ocean carriers, logistics firms, ports, terminals and railroads, including over 650 beneficial cargo owners.

The three-day program is developed from independent, unbiased editorial content by the JOC team of specialized business journalists. The JOC is the historic New York City shipping newspaper that is now a specialized business intelligence unit within IHS Markit, focused exclusively on international containerized transportation and logistics, freight markets, technology, and strategy.
