Pharmacy Times Continuing Education™ to Host Three Educational Symposia at the 53rd ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition

CRANBURY, N.J.--()--Pharmacy Times Continuing Education™ (PTCE), a leader in continuing education for retail, health-system, managed care and specialty pharmacists, will conduct three continuing education symposia at the 53rd American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition on Dec. 3 and Dec. 5 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, announced Jim Palatine, R.Ph., MBA, president of PTCE.

  • Postoperative Pain Management: Assessing Novel Nonopioid Treatment Options, which will be held Monday, Dec. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center (ACC), room 256, 200 level, ACC North. Saleh, Pharm.D., BCPS, manager of clinical services, pharmacy department, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Naum Shaparin, M.D., MBA, associate professor, anesthesiology, family and social medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.   • Pharmacist-Driven Strategies to Improve Outcomes in Patients with CLL/SLL — Focused on Novel Next-Generation Treatment Options, which will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center, room 256, 200 level, ACC North. Faculty presenters for this program include Jessica Auten, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCOP, clinical pharmacy specialist, malignant hematology, University of North Carolina Medical Center, and Alison Duffy, Pharm.D., BCOP, associate professor, department of pharmacy practice and science, School of Pharmacy, University of Maryland, hematology/oncology clinical pharmacy specialist, Greenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Maryland.   • The Role of the Pharmacist in Safely Handling Chemotherapeutic Agents, which will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center, room 257, 200 level, ACC North. Faculty presenters for this program include Jeffrey C. Lombardo, Pharm.D., BCOP, associate director, Empire State Patient Safety Assurance Network, Center for Integrated Biomedical Sciences, research assistant professor, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University at Buffalo and Christine Roussel, Pharm.D., BCOP, director of pharmacy, Doylestown Hospital. The educational activities will feature a multidisciplinary panel that will explore many facets of pharmacy and health care. From assessing novel nonopioid treatment options to offering pharmacists strategies to improve outcomes in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, ASHP’s Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition will provide attendees with current, actionable knowledge to further their organizations and careers in an ever-changing profession. Each symposium will identify the role of the pharmacist and provide attendees with the best strategies and practices to help them improve overall patient care. Each activity is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and is approved for 1.5 contact hours.
