SALT LAKE CITY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Upwell Health, a leading provider of healthcare services, support, and solutions for people living with chronic conditions, today announced that CEO Alison Wistner has been named the Bronze Stevie Award winner in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year category at the 15th annual Women in Business Awards. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor female executives and entrepreneurs, along with the companies they run. This year, more than 1,500 entries were submitted. Finalists were determined by the average scores of more than 200 business professionals around the world, working on five juries.
“Now, more than ever, it’s critical that women in leadership positions set an example for the next generation, and I’m thrilled to have been honored alongside such a forward-thinking and accomplished group,” said Wistner. “The Stevie Awards represent our efforts to better the business climate, and I’m excited to collectively continue empowering women to become leaders.”
As CEO of Upwell Health, Wistner drives the company’s mission to provide holistic healthcare services, medications, supplies, and solutions to people living with chronic conditions. The company is preparing to launch UpwellBeing.com, a digital engagement platform designed to offer educational and enlightening content to help people better understand their conditions, leverage the resources available to them, and take proactive steps toward healthier living.
Wistner was instrumental in the publication of Upwell Health's “True Cost of Diabetes” report, a survey of more than 6,000 people that revealed 45 percent have gone without diabetes care because they couldn’t afford it. The report helped drive a national conversation about the cost of diabetes management and influenced legislators at the national and state levels to underscore the need for more affordable medication.
Wistner’s commitment to health and wellness extends beyond Upwell Health, through her support of the American Heart Association’s Utah Heart and Stroke Walk, for which she will serve as 2019 Executive Chair. In this role, Wistner will work to inspire CEOs in the region to get involved and match her contribution.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Award winners were announced during a gala event at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel in New York on Friday, Nov. 16. Executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries attended.
