Trial Project for Accessible Event At MANGEKYO

A Big Step towards the Realization of “Accessible Event” for 2020

TOKYO--()--JTB Communication Design Co., Ltd conducted a trial project for the realization of “Accessible Event” which is the event everyone, inbound tourists to Japan and disabled people, could enjoy without any barrier.

This event is conducted as a trial research project for the governmental “Basic Policy for Promoting Measures related to Preparations for and Management of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020."

100 guests include foreigners and visually, auditory or physically disabled people were invited to -MANGEKYO- performed by globally well-known Japanese drum group DRUM TAO. The guests experienced following services as trial for improvement of multilingual services and the services for disabled people.

  • Multilingual services: Increased number of multilingual staffs and signages
  • For visually disabled: “Braille Blocks” for more safely and easy way in and out
  • For auditory disabled: Audio sensory device “Ontenna” (User could feel transmitted unique features of sound through vibrations and light.) and Communication Application ” UD talk“.
  • For physically disabled: “Expanded space for viewing from wheelchair”

An interview and survey with invited guests were conducted after the show. The feedback will be utilized for further improvement to realize” Accessible Event”.
