Apex Clearing Names Industry Veteran Lucille Mayer as Chief Operating Officer

Appointment reflects Apex’s growth, momentum and optimism as it continues to democratize investing

DALLAS--()--Apex Clearing, a leader in digital wealth management, announced today the appointment of Lucille Mayer to Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Mayer will oversee Apex’s operations, legal and compliance functions and collaborate with the product and technology teams to align priorities and resources. She also will work with clients and partners to evolve and scale Apex offerings to further enhance the customer experience. Ms. Mayer will report to Apex’s Chief Executive Officer, Bill Capuzzi, and join the Apex senior leadership team.

“Because Apex Clearing is driven by a mission to increase access to investing and help more people build wealth, we are able to attract industry leaders like Lucille who want to make a real difference,” said Capuzzi. “Lucille brings many years of experience helping companies operate smarter and more efficiently to better serve their clients. We are excited to have Lucille on our team and help us take Apex to the next level.”

Prior to Apex, Ms. Mayer was Chief Information Officer of Client Experience Delivery at BNY Mellon, one of the world’s largest financial service enterprises. Previously, she was CIO and an Executive Committee member at Pershing LLC, a BNY company, where she collaborated with broker-dealers, advisors and industry partners to develop business and technology solutions seen as standard in the industry today. Throughout her career, Ms. Mayer has been a mentor to next generation leaders and an advocate for women in the industry, continuing with her current service as a Board Member of the Anita Borg Institute.

“I’ve known Bill for a long time and am thrilled to be a part of the Apex team,” Ms. Mayer said. “Apex’s mission is one that really speaks to me – making sense of the obstacles imposed by disjointed, legacy systems as marketplace demand redefines the investor experience. Our opportunity is to work together to remove this friction and create a portfolio of services to deliver the next generation of wealth management across different interaction approaches.”

A custodian of choice for leaders of digital wealth, Apex has brought to market many of the technologies that have transformed the industry. In recent months, Apex has announced it is expanding its fractional trading capabilities to support self-directed brokerages and offering its clients the ability to service the demand for crypto assets and provide commission-free trading.
