(NYSE: HUM), a leading health and well-being company, today announced it has collaborated with Premier Independent Physicians (PIP) on a value-based agreement designed to offer a coordinated, patient-centered experience to help Humana Medicare Advantage members in Dallas-Fort Worth metro achieve better health.
Humana’s Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plan members in Collin, Cook, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Lamar, Palo Pinto, Tarrant, and Wise counties will have in-network access to PIP’s vast number of physicians and facilities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metro. Additionally, Humana’s Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan members (members of these plans have both Medicare and Medicaid) in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Tarrant, and Wise counties will have the same in-network access in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro.
The agreement with PIP is part of Humana’s longstanding commitment to value-based care, which emphasizes:
- More personal time with health professionals and personalized care that is tailored to each person’s unique health situation;
- Access to proactive health screenings and programs that are focused on preventing illness;
- Improved care for people living with chronic conditions with a focus on avoiding health complications;
- Leveraging technologies, such as data analytics, that connect physicians and help them work as a team to coordinate care around the patient; and
- Reimbursement to physicians linked to the health outcomes of their patients rather than based solely on the quantity of services they provide (fee-for-service).
PIP offers a model for care in north Texas and southern Oklahoma that places primary care physicians at the center of healthcare, and supports their operational, technology and practice management need. In this way, PIP frees primary care physicians to drive a higher level of care for their patients. Under this new agreement, PIP’s physicians will also benefit by having access to tools, real-time data and care support offered by Humana, which will maximize the time PIP physicians spend with their patients covered by Humana Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plans.
