Melville Marriott Long Island Completes Multi-Million Dollar Renovation

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.--()--Columbia Sussex, one of the largest Marriott franchisees in the country, is in the midst of an aggressive renovation program to at least nine of its Marriott owned and operated properties. Most recently, it completed a multi-million dollar renovation to one of Long Island’s landmark hotels, the Melville Marriott Long Island, which has hosted Fortune 500 executives, athletes competing at the nearby sporting venues, to large conventions and conferences.

One of the largest full service hotels built in the ideal Nassau-Suffolk corridor of Long Island, the property is centrally located to corporate parks where the headquarters of Fortune 500 companies reside, as well as popular attractions such as Walt Whitman Shops, to the upcoming PGA Championship at the Bethpage Black, and picturesque beaches.

Each of Columbia Sussex’s Marriott renovations feature the new Marriott Hotel (MH) standards focusing on architectural aesthetic, location and fresh design. Melville Marriott’s renovation takes its inspiration from the bountiful vineyards of Long Island, with nuanced scents, colors and materials which are harmoniously woven together to create a balanced bouquet.

Guest Rooms, Suites and Concierge Lounge

With a base of deep hues and luxe modern textures, the new guest room color palette reflects the vineyards, the sea and the area’s beaches and parks. All 371 guest rooms, including executive and deluxe suites, have been renovated to reflect this design philosophy using dark woods, brushed metal and caramel-colored leather that complements the professional yet relaxed vibe of Long Island. Contemporary murals and furnishings reflect Marriott's modern aesthetic.

Each luxurious guest room is designed for optimal rest and productivity with architectural framing, contrasting finishes and wall cladding, upscale bathroom fixtures, and thoughtful solutions to enhance a guest’s stay, such as:

  • Luxurious new 15-inch Beauty-rest plush mattress with down comforters and cotton linens
  • Sleek shelving units for coffee maker, ice buckets and glasses
  • Mini refrigerator
  • High-speed Wi-Fi and a large desk with comfortable chair and plug-in panels
  • 44-inch flat-panel TVs with premium cable and movie channels to keep guests well-entertained. Enseo In-Room Entertainment also brings the content guests want directly to the guest room TV, including Netflix®, Hulu®, HBO GO®, YouTube®, Pandora®, and Crackle®.
  • Strategically placed mirrors, including back-lit vanity mirror and full length mirrors

Executive and Deluxe Suites also include:

  • Swivel 56-inch TV with room divider
  • Sitting area

The Concierge Lounge, located on the 1st floor, offers exclusive access to personalized business and Concierge services, all-day dining options and evening cocktails. The Lounge looks and feels like a metropolitan restaurant with a buffet area, including cappuccino machines and beverage station, and is an exclusive area for Marriott elite guests. Seating similar to the Greatroom allows for group and individual seating. Guests are provided with warm and anticipatory customer service meeting the needs of Marriott’s frequent travelers.

Meeting Spaces, Greatroom Restaurant, Bar and Library

The hotel’s more than 19,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting spaces comprise 19 event rooms, accommodating up to 800 guests. A newly renovated 10,000-square-foot ballroom, three board rooms, executive conference rooms and a unique lobby level meeting room, part of the Greatroom feature, can accommodate events and meetings of any size. One of the most unique aspects of the hotel’s meeting space is the 6,000-square-foot lobby level Atrium, which is perfect for trade shows and meal functions for up to 500 guests, while bringing the beauty of the outdoors in a protected space.

The Greatroom areas, located on the lobby level, are a highlight and hub of activity for guests. There is 10,000 square feet of lounging space to fit myriad guest needs from morning until night. Highlights include:
