DFLabs to Discuss Overcoming Incident Response Automation Roadblocks at Borderless Cyber USA 2018

Security Operations Expert John Moran Will Use Real World Cases to Explain When, Where and How Software can be Used to Safely Remediate Threats

BOSTON & MILAN--()--DFLabs, the pioneer in Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), today announced that Senior Product Manager and security operations and incident response expert John Moran will present a session how to overcome the roadblocks of security automation at this year’s Borderless Cyber USA in Washington, D.C.

WHO:

John Moran, Senior Product Manager at DFLabs, is an expert in security operations, incident response, digital forensics and investigations. He has served as a Senior Incident Response Analyst for NTT Security, Computer Forensic Analyst for the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Task Force Officer for the US Department of Homeland Security. John currently holds GCFA, CFCE, EnCE, CEH, and CHFI certifications as well as degrees in Digital Forensics and Information Security.

WHAT:

Despite the hype and high expectations associated with security automation and its ability to provide a faster response to threats and compensate for the lack of qualified experts, many organizations remain reluctant to allow software to take remediation actions. In this session, John will use real-world incident response and computer forensic cases to illustrate the common roadblocks to security automation and explain how these challenges can be overcome. He will discuss what operations should and should not be automated, where automation can be used as a force multiplier, and how to avoid automation missteps that create more, not less, work for the security operations center (SOC) team. John will also present a set of best practices for assessing SOC automation and orchestration needs, developing an incident response program, and implementing SOAR automation tools to automate incident response workflows and case management.

WHEN:

Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 10:00-10:30 AM EDT

WHERE:

Borderless Cyber USA 2018, The World Bank Group, International Finance Corporation Headquarters, 2121 Pennsylvania Ave, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20433
