Coors Light Names Cristina Rodríguez Líder of the Year

Rodríguez to Receive $25,000 for a Community Program in Miami

MIAMI--()--Coors Light is proud to announce Cristina Rodríguez as the winner of the 2018 Coors Light Líder of the Year. For 12 years, the Coors Light Líderes program has honored the importance of leadership in the Latino community and helped emerging Latino leaders reach their potential.

This national recognition, decided by an online public voting competition, includes a $25,000 grant from Coors Light for Rodríguez to implement a Latino leadership project for Mind&Melody, Inc., a nonprofit with the mission of transforming lives by implementing novel programs that inspire love of music and community. Rodríguez is among 12 outstanding Latino leaders nominated by nonprofit organizations for their leadership, achievements and lasting impact in their community. She was nominated by Mind&Melody, Inc. where she serves as President & Co-Founder.

“This is a well-deserved recognition because Cristina embodies the tenacity, passion and traits of a dynamic leader who is helping bring about lasting, transformative change in the community,” said Alberto Senior, national Latino community affairs lead at MillerCoors. “We are excited to recognize Cristina for her dedication to improving the lives of those in her community through music.”

“It is an honor to be selected by my peers and the community as the 2018 Coors Light Líder of the Year,” said Rodríguez. “Coors Light’s ongoing commitment to investing in the professional development of emerging Latino leaders is helping more individuals thrive. I am proud to represent Mind&Melody, Inc. and eager to use the $25,000 grant to help the members of my community improve their quality of life.”

Through nonprofit partnerships, signature programs and long-term investments that support economic development, Coors Light is helping to build stronger communities for everyone. Since 2006, the Coors Light Líderes program has recognized and highlighted the achievements of emerging Latino leaders.

After 12 finalists are chosen by an expert panel, the winner is selected through an online voting competition supported by a national advertising campaign and robust community outreach. The Coors Light Líderes program offers up-and-coming Latino professionals with leadership tools, resources and networking opportunities. Past Líderes of the Year have developed leadership programs in education, entrepreneurship, professional development, technology and the arts.

About Coors Brewing Company

Coors Brewing Company was founded in 1873 by Adolph Coors, who chose the Clear Creek Valley in Golden, Colo., for his new brewery because of the pure water in the nearby Rocky Mountain springs. The brewery’s original and most enduring beer is Coors Banquet (Coors.com, Facebook.com/CoorsBanquet, YouTube.com/OfficialCoorsBanquet), still brewed exclusively in Golden using only Rocky Mountain water and high-country barley. Coors Light (CoorsLight.com, Facebook.com/CoorsLight, @CoorsLight on Twitter, YouTube.com/CoorsLight) was introduced in 1978 and now is the second-best-selling beer in the United States. Triple-filtered smooth Keystone Light (KeystoneLight.com, Facebook.com/KeystoneLight) is one the country’s most popular economy beers. Coors Brewing Company operates in the United States and Puerto Rico as part of MillerCoors, a joint venture of SABMiller plc and Molson Coors Brewing Company.
