Vietnam Automobile Industry: The Comprehensive Report (Q1 2018) - ResearchAndMarkets.com

DUBLIN--()--The "Vietnam Automobile Industry Comprehensive Report Q1 - 2018" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering.

According to data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), in 2017, the whole automobile market reached the number of 272,750 vehicles (including passenger cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles), a decline of 10.3% compared to 2016.

The decline in car sales in 2017 is mainly due to the psychological waiting for the market in 2018 with lower prices when AFTA has the maximum effect with a tax rate of 0% for products imported within ASEAN.
By decreasing tariffs on cars imported to 0% in 2018, CBU products will be imported from ASEAN to Vietnam at very competitive prices.
However until now, low-cost cars, thanks to reduced tax are still far away from consumers as new policies are being tightened to cars imported, and prioritize the development of domestic automobile production at the same time.
