SUNRISE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aetna (NYSE: AET) has announced that Richard Weiss has been named president of its Florida market. In this role, Weiss has profit and loss responsibility for the market’s small group, large group, public & labor and Medicare businesses.
“Richard brings strong leadership and a well-rounded background from within the company. His industry experience and business acumen makes him the right choice to lead our Florida operations,” said Jonathan Mayhew, Aetna’s president of markets.

Prior to his role as executive director, Weiss served as Aetna’s Florida Market Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as well as the financial coach for the company’s Southeast territory. In this dual role, he led the strategic direction of the Florida market’s financial functions, including financial closing activities, planning and forecasting, and financial reporting, while also having oversight over CFOs managing the finances of eight other states.
