Rank One Health, a New Health Care App for Managing K-12 Sports Injuries, Launches Today

DALLAS--()--Rank One Sport, a leader in sports team management applications for K-12 athletic directors, certified athletic trainers (ATCs) and coaches, today announced the launch of its new app Rank One Health, which is fully integrated with the FERPA compliant Rank One Sport. Rank One Health was designed in collaboration with the Children’s Health Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, an award-winning innovator offering world-class, pediatric-focused care for young athletes.

Rank One Health is designed to help standardize student-athlete injury documentation nationwide and reduce risk for schools by providing a communications system between ATCs, team physicians, health care providers and school administrators. Additionally, Rank One Health significantly improves reporting and tracking of student athlete injuries for ATCs and other sports medicine professionals in K-12 school systems.

According to National Center for Education statistics, approximately eight million students participate in middle school and high school sports annually. Outside of school sports, there are more than 30 million additional youth athletes, and Stanford Children’s Health Sports Injury Statistics reports more than 3.5 million youth athletes are injured playing sports or participating in recreational activities per year.

Rank One Sport identified the need for a mobile application to ensure the medical services student-athletes require for more efficient care are available in more places. Rank One Health seamlessly connects ATCs, team physicians, other sports medical staff and school personnel all on one secure platform. Rank One Sport’s FERPA compliant platform is used by nearly 2,000 K-12 schools across Texas, in addition to more than 1,000 other schools in 25 states, making the adoption of Rank One Health a logical evolution for athletic directors, athletic trainers who want to improve the process of care and school administrators responsible for risk management.

In 2009, Rank One Sport founder Brian Mann began working with certified athletic trainers in Texas. We listened to every request and did our best to make the lives of our users easier and more efficient. We have seen first-hand the growth in our industry, and the expansion of the role of the athletic trainer within the school administrative leadership. These are some of the hardest working people in education, and too often their hard work goes unnoticed. We hope Rank One Health and the improved, FERPA compliant Rank One Sport will help athletic trainers, in Texas and nationwide, get the support they deserve” says Jason McKay, chairman and chief executive officer of AllPlayers Network, Inc., the parent company of Rank One Sport and Rank One Health.

Rank One Health is compatible with any physicians group, health care network, individual physician or each school may choose to build their own subscriber network. The app’s injury documentation software was developed based on nationally recognized standards, as well as injury evaluation methodology, including a virtual health component, used and recommended by the Children’s Health Andrews Institute.

Key benefits of Rank One Health include:

  • Reduce risk for school districts and school-based sports programs through real-time, accurate documentation and communication of injury management
  • Improve decision making and access for sports medicine professionals, using evidence-based data, to assess and treat sports injuries
  • Direct, secure communication between certified athletic trainers, health care providers and team physicians
  • Real-time reporting and tracking of health data as well as communications and return-to-play eligibility notifications
  • Centralized user roles and permissions to comply with any school policy

We appreciate Rank One Health’s commitment to ensuring quality clinical standards and advancing the science of sports medicine, benefiting student-athletes,” says Chad Gilliland, senior director of the Children’s Health Andrews Institute. “We are excited to provide our expertise to help implement a standardized, user-friendly mobile application available to more effectively and efficiently manage sports related injuries in school settings.”
