NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MIRROR today announced the launch and general availability of its flagship product—the world’s first nearly invisible, interactive home gym featuring live and on-demand fitness classes in a variety of workout genres. For the first time, MIRROR brings the essential components of a great studio workout – variety, personalization, and community – to the most convenient place: the home. Additionally, MIRROR announced securing $25 million in new fundraising from existing investor Spark Capital. This brings the company’s total funding to $38 million.
MIRROR is creating a new category of in-home fitness with cutting-edge hardware, responsive software, and best-in-class content that transforms any room into a complete home gym.
Founder and CEO Brynn Putnam has been a pioneer of the fitness industry for more than a decade. Her career began as a professional dancer for the New York City Ballet, then as the founder of the acclaimed Refine Method fitness studios. Now, Brynn is applying her deep expertise in fitness, both as an entrepreneur and an accomplished athlete, to transform the fitness industry again with MIRROR.
“MIRROR is the first to bring the collective benefits of quality fitness studios into the home with a beautiful piece of hardware that enhances any room,” said Brynn Putnam, Founder and CEO of MIRROR. “Studio classes are great for high-quality, hands-on training, but are often draining on time and budget. We’re creating a personalized experience with the best trainers and classes around the world, so anyone can enjoy the benefits of a workout, whenever and wherever they want.”
MIRROR's all-in-one responsive display is comprised of an LCD panel, stereo speakers, camera (with lens cap for privacy), microphone and one-way mirror to create a fully immersive fitness experience within your home. During a workout, instructors provide real-time instruction and even personal shout-outs. MIRROR then optimizes in real time based on a user’s goals, preferences and biometric data. Sync a Bluetooth heart rate monitor or Apple Watch to enable competition mode and MIRROR’s proprietary algorithm will track your ability to achieve, maintain and recover from target heart rate zones. Try to hit the target or compete with your personal best.
MIRROR streams 50+ new workouts each week from its production studio in New York, which are continually added to MIRROR’s vast library of on-demand content, and accessible through the companion mobile app. Users can select music to play during each class, with the option to choose from MIRROR's own curated playlists or use your own. Use MIRROR’s embedded speakers or sync a Bluetooth audio device.
At launch, classes include cardio, strength, yoga, Pilates, barre, boxing and stretch, with levels ranging from beginner to expert.
The boutique fitness studio industry is the fastest-growing segment of the $25 billion US fitness market, because of a growing demand for quality classes and instruction. Despite the growth of studio fitness, two-thirds of Americans still work out in-home — sacrificing quality for convenience with clunky equipment, little-to-no instruction, and stale or outdated content.
MIRROR is available today at www.mirror.co for $1,495 with a monthly content subscription of $39. White glove delivery is available across the country.
MIRROR is revolutionizing the at-home fitness space with the first connected fitness system to bring the boutique studio experience in-home. Its sleek, responsive display and best-in-class content create an immersive fitness experience, with live and on-demand group classes or one-on-one training sessions available across a variety of genres. MIRROR was founded by Harvard grad Brynn Putnam, creator of Refine Method, named “New York’s Smartest Workout.” MIRROR is headquartered in New York City.
