Cyber Academy of South Carolina Kicks Off 2018-2019 School Year on August 22

Online Public School Offers Students Innovative College- and Career-Prep Opportunities

GREENVILLE, S.C.--()--Students and teachers at Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC) will start classes for the 2018-2019 school year on August 22. A full-time, tuition-free online public school, CASC is open to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade throughout the state.

“We are thrilled to begin our sixth year providing South Carolina families with a public education option that prepares students for college and careers,” said Head of School David Crook. “Cyber Academy of South Carolina’s teachers are committed to each student’s academic success, and our online platform allows us to provide a personalized learning experience to meet each student’s unique needs.”

CASC combines innovative technology with a rigorous curriculum led by South Carolina-certified teachers. Students take a full course load across the core subjects of math, science, language arts, history, art and music, as well as a variety of electives, including world languages, honors and Advanced Placement® courses at the appropriate grade levels.

In addition to the core courses, CASC middle and high school students have the opportunity to take Career Technical Education (CTE) courses through the school’s Destinations Pathways Program. Through CASC’s Destinations program, online courses introduce students to specialty trade skills in the fields of business management and administration, education, marketing, or information technology. Students can choose to go on to take examinations for industry-recognized credentials, and gain an introduction to future career opportunities.

CASC students can also take advantage of K12’s new partnership with STEM Premier, a collaborative, relationship-building platform connecting students with career pathways, jobs, colleges, trade schools, and scholarship opportunities. Students create online portfolios highlighting career interests, academic achievements, extracurricular activities and certifications. The platform allows STEM Premier member organizations to recruit for skilled talent.

“Students enrolled in CASC’s Destinations pathways are being prepared for in-demand, lucrative career opportunities in the 21st century workforce,” said Casey Welch, STEM Premier President and CEO. “We look forward to providing an opportunity for these students to showcase their skills, talents and abilities on the STEM Premier platform.”

Throughout the school year, CASC builds a sense of community through in-person field trips, community service opportunities and social outings. Students connect with their peers through virtual clubs around shared interests, and graduating seniors are celebrated at an in-person commencement ceremony each spring.

CASC is accepting applications for enrollment for the 2018-2019 academic year. Families are encouraged to attend an online or in-person information session hosted by the school.
