OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. (NYSE: WDR) has named Mark P. Buyle as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer. He will serve as a member of the firm’s Executive Leadership team and lead the Legal, Investment Management Compliance, Broker-Dealer Compliance and Internal Audit Departments.
Buyle is a 23-year firm veteran, joining Waddell & Reed in 1995 as senior attorney and, over the years, has provided legal guidance to nearly every area of the company. He most recently served as Interim General Counsel, a role he assumed in April. Prior to that, he spent several years as Deputy General Counsel.
Buyle reports to Philip J. Sanders, CEO of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc.

During his time at the firm, Buyle’s range of work has included involvement or oversight of legal work within multiple areas, including compliance, regulatory, corporate and litigation.
Prior to joining Waddell & Reed, Buyle was a corporate attorney with the Kansas City law firm Polsinelli. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.
