Martha’s Vineyard Priciest Destination in New England, According to Survey

BOSTON--()--Martha's Vineyard, an island located south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, is the most expensive summer destination in New England, according to a survey conducted by BostonHotels.org.

The survey compared hotel rates for 30 popular destinations in New England during the month of August 2018. Specifically, for each destination the price for the cheapest available double room was established. It should be noted that only hotels located close to the city center/beach and rated at least 3 stars were considered for the survey.

Visitors to Martha's Vineyard will have to spend, on average, $362 per night for the least expensive double room. Second most expensive is Kennebunkport, famous for its political residents and appealing southern Maine shores, at an average of $347 per night. Chatham, Massachusetts, located on the southern tip of Cape Cod, completes the podium at $324 per night for the most affordable room. With Provincetown, Falmouth and Boston, another three destinations in Massachusetts made it into the Top 10.

On the other end of the spectrum, the least expensive destination in New England is Hartford. In the capital city of Connecticut, you should be able to find a room for just slightly above $100 per night.

The following table ranks the 10 most expensive destinations in New England this summer. The prices shown reflect the average rate for each destination's cheapest available double room for the time period spanning August 1–31, 2018.
