National Executive Service Corps: C-Level Professionals on a Mission to Energize South Florida’s Non-Profits

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--()--The National Executive Services Corps of South Florida has a message for area non-profit agencies: Your vision is to make South Florida better. Ours is to help you succeed.

Powered by volunteers who are C-Level professionals with decades of operational expertise, NESC of South Florida provides low cost, high performance consulting exclusively to non-profits at a fraction of what for-profit consultants typically charge.

A perfect example is the 12 executive search assignments NESC has completed for Hispanic Unity of Florida. By reshaping position descriptions for a tighter job market, screening, interviewing and producing a slate of preferred candidates, NESC saved the organization hundreds of hours of time at a deeply discounted fee.

“NESC works hard to understand the values and culture of the organization. This enables them to expertly select candidates with strong skills and experience who will thrive in our fast-paced environment,” said Hispanic Unity of Florida CEO Josie Bacallao.

In addition to executive search, NESC offers services to resolve the unique challenges of non-profits including:

  • Business and strategic planning
  • Organizational analysis
  • Board development
  • Executive coaching
  • Feasibility studies
  • Leadership
  • Organizational development
  • Marketing and public relations.

The Center for Independent Living tasked NESC with two objectives: work with the board to create a five-year strategic plan, and facilitate an employee meeting to craft a values statement that would guide their behavior in the workplace. Both outcomes were successful, resulting in an energized and re-engaged board, and greater teamwork among staff.

“Thanks to our employees’ participation in creating our values statement, office morale is noticeably improved,” said Corey Hinds, Executive Director/CEO of Center for Independent Living. “And our board members left the board retreat with a feeling of excitement and achievement. Everyone is ready to build on this solid foundation and work together to accomplish our year-one goals.”

“Our work with the National Executive Service Corps of South Florida was transformational,” said Patricia West, chairman of the Piney Grove Boys Academy Board of Directors regarding the development of the school’s strategic plan. “Working with NESC pushed us to think on a higher level, set goals to achieve sustainable growth and become an extraordinary organization.”

NESC President, CEO, and Senior Consultant Melanie Hillenbrand explains the value her team offers: “For decades, our consultants successfully led organizations, managed people, strategically planned growth and mastered changes for some of America’s top-level companies. Their desire to implement change and achieve results still burns strong. So it’s a win-win situation for them and our local non-profits.”

About The National Executive Services Corps of South Florida

In February, 2015, six retired C-Suite senior executives, wanting to use their considerable business skills to help nonprofits, rekindled a dormant 501(c)(3) organization based in South Florida. This organization continues its affiliation with the National Executive Service Corps, an organization founded in 1977 by David Rockefeller in New York. Today, each of the 18 affiliates in the U.S. is a standalone business, sharing the common mission of strengthening nonprofits. For more information, visit http://www.nesc-southflorida.org.
