SAP Ariba: Laying the Foundation for the Intelligent Enterprise

Company sees record increase in transaction volume as buyers and sellers around world tap business network to build connected supply chains

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--The most intelligent enterprises are built on connected supply chains. And more than 3.4 million companies are using solutions from SAP Ariba to construct them. During the second quarter which ended June 30, transaction volume on the Ariba® Network soared to $2.1 trillion as organizations of all sizes, across industries, tapped the world’s largest business commerce platform and the cloud-based applications delivered on it, to manage their spend from end to end in a smart and coordinated way.

“As much as 90 percent of a company’s value lies in the supply chain – everything that’s bought and sold, all the people and interactions involved in making commerce happen, and the massive amounts of data collected in the process,” said Barry Padgett, President, SAP Ariba. “To maximize it, businesses need solutions that connect these things and enable them to run with greater speed and intelligence.”

Point applications that digitize specific tasks can’t do this. Integrated, end-to-end offerings that combine the convenience and agility of the cloud with the connectivity and scale of a global business network can. And this is exactly what SAP Ariba delivers.

Procurement the Way it Should Work

Using SAP Ariba’s cloud-based source-to-settle applications alongside SAP S4/HANA, companies can quickly draw meaningful insights from the data living in their supply chains and the powerful community that SAP Ariba has built, and use them to make more intelligent decisions that propel their businesses forward. During the second quarter, new cloud bookings at SAP rose 29 percent. SAP Ariba was a key contributor to this growth, as companies around the world embraced its solutions, which together with SAP Fieldglass are positioned in the Leaders quadrant of the Gartner 2018 Magic Quadrant for Procure-to-Pay Suites, to do just this.

  • Burger King Restaurant Co., Ltd. has ambitious expansion goals to expand its number of stores and increase revenue in South Korea and Japan. The company has selected SAP to partner with in their digital transformation journey, and will use SAP S/4 HANA and SAP Ariba to execute predictive analysis based on real-time insights to gain greater efficiency and control of the business.
  • Ganzhou Nankang People's Government is building a household town for local small and medium enterprises, and has chosen SAP Ariba to establish a “one stop” integrated platform through which they can connect and collaborate within a global network to reduce procurement costs and expand their business.
  • Lion Corporation has set on a path to cultivate corporate capabilities that will survive global competition, and will use SAP Ariba to digitize marketing-related procurement and purchasing operations to improve the quality and speed of the process, strengthen governance and control costs.
  • JXTG Nippon Oil and Energy wants to unify its procurement process, and will use SAP Ariba’s solutions to manage everything from supplier evaluation and selection to sourcing, contract management and reporting.
  • More than 120,000 new selling organizations – or more than one per minute – connected to the Ariba Network to take advantage of $2.2 million of potential new business posted on SAP Ariba Discovery™ every hour and participate in the more than $2.1 trillion in commerce conducted annually. If the network were a country, it would be among the top ten in Gross Domestic Product.

“At SAP Ariba, we are fully invested in delivering solutions that enable companies to not only save time and money, but create sustainable, ethical supply chains that positively impact their business and the world at large. Because that’s how procurement should work and the way intelligent enterprises run,” Padgett said.
