CMS Approves Arcadia Analytics as a 2018 Qualified Clinical Data Registry for MIPS

Arcadia will be able to submit MIPS quality measure data to CMS for the 2018 performance period, alleviating the administrative burden for Arcadia customers

BURLINGTON, Mass.--()--Arcadia.io announced today that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has evaluated and approved Arcadia to be a 2018 Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR). Arcadia customers will be able to use Arcadia Analytics to submit quality data directly to CMS for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) 2018 performance period.

All Arcadia Analytics customers using Data Connect, Arcadia’s proprietary technology for extracting and aggregating EHR and claims data sources, will be able to use Arcadia Analytics to submit data to CMS for their selected MIPS quality measures. Arcadia Analytics supports all Quality Payment Program (QPP) registry-eligible measures, and is one of only a handful of population health management vendors to have obtained CMS QCDR approval.

MIPS was established by the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 and is intended to reward Medicare physicians and other clinicians for providing better care. Participating providers are evaluated on four performance categories, including quality of care, and are required to submit supporting data at the close of the performance year.

“For many healthcare organizations, documenting and submitting detailed quality performance information can be a significant effort, pulling quality staff away from clinical improvement initiatives. It was important to us to become a QCDR to help our customers alleviate the administrative burden associated with MIPS,” explained Michael Gleeson, chief analytics officer at Arcadia. “Our customers will be able to report performance information to CMS using the same high-quality foundation of aggregated data that powers all of their population health initiatives.”

Healthcare providers participating in MIPS have four options for data submission, including qualified registries and QCDRs. Both qualified registries and QCDRs collect clinical data from clinicians (both individuals and groups) who participate in MIPS and submit that data to CMS on their behalf for MIPS reporting. However, the QCDR is not limited to measures within the QPP, meaning that Arcadia can create custom measures and submit them to CMS for approval. This means that Arcadia can work with specialty practices to develop and report on measures better geared to their needs.

“Being a QCDR means that we can design and submit custom measures for our customers,” said Lauren McNamara, product manager for performance analytics at Arcadia. “We offer hundreds of standard measures developed by industry measure stewards, which have reliable and well-vetted measure specifications, but we also thought it was important to be a QCDR to have flexibility to support our customers as needed.”

Arcadia offers standard integrations for over 40 physical and behavioral health EHRs, pairing detailed clinical data with claims-based data to give heterogeneous healthcare organizations a comprehensive view of population health. Arcadia Analytics supports over 400 quality measures for federal, state, and commercial programs, with intuitive dashboards that make it easy for quality improvement teams to prioritize clinical initiatives and make care gap data actionable at the point of care.
