Survey Shows That Securus Online Grievance Application Lets Correction Facilities Provide Better Inmate Service

Grievance Application Reduces Cost and Improves Accountability

DALLAS--()--Securus Technologies, a leading provider of technology-enabled solutions for public safety, law enforcement, investigations, corrections and government payment services, announces the results of its Online Grievance Survey. Securus asked facilities currently using the Securus Online Grievance application (ADP ranging from 50 to more than 2,000) to discuss the importance of having a digital solution, the value and savings they’ve experienced and how the service has improved overall processes.

The overwhelming sentiment is that Online Grievance allows facilities to “receive and respond faster to grievances,” leading to better inmate service. Not only do inmates have immediate access to grievance services they need, results also confirm that the Online Grievance application saves corrections facilities staff time, money and reduces officer stress. The 3 most common words/phrases used to describe Securus’ forms and software:

  1. Easy
  2. Eliminates wasted time
  3. Nothing lost through the cracks

Correction agencies are under constant scrutiny in today’s 24-7 news cycles, and seek ways to promote transparency and complete accountability,” said a Securus Spokesperson. “Online Grievance has built a reputation among agencies for being the best way to receive, quickly respond, and completely track the response to inmate grievances.”

Inmates benefit from having greater control over the grievance process with access to online forms and easy follow up on their status. In the past, filing a grievance was tedious and messy. Correctional officers were burdened with providing printed Word documents and completing Excel spreadsheets. It was not uncommon for multiple officers having to collect, log, respond, copy and file the forms - diverting attention from facility safety and security.

Survey respondents indicated between 10 and 40 hours of staff time saved each week. Additionally, more than 40% of respondents said a valuable or extremely valuable component of Online Grievance was improved staff morale. An even larger 60% of respondents said the same concerning inmate morale.

Reducing cost while increasing security will always be a top priority for corrections officers,” the Spokesperson said. “Doing more with less doesn’t have to come at the cost of serving inmates. This recent survey helps us better understand what today’s agencies need to provide better care for the inmates in their facilities.”
