PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kudos&Co. Inc. is leading the movement for safer social sharing experiences for kids. The company recently launched a new app designed for kids eight and up. With Kudos, kids have fun sharing pictures, reactions and comments while learning to be good digital citizens. The Kudos app has been certified by PRIVO, an FTC-approved COPPA safe harbor.
Recognizing that kids want to share their creations and opinions with their friends, Kudos adopted the mission of building a platform which provides them with the positive aspects of social sharing while protecting them from the undesirable elements. Conscientious moderators oversee what users post round the clock and the team of key executives from Pixar, Disney, EA, Google and DreamWorks are dedicated to building a rich experience of age-appropriate curated content and engaging creative activities.
“Kudos has gone to great lengths to ensure that they are handling child privacy compliantly and are meeting the highest standards for delivery of an age-appropriate safe environment for kids. We are delighted to have them in our COPPA Safe Harbor program and look forward to continuing to build on the good work as they develop their experiences for children,” comments Claire Quinn, PRIVO’s VP of Compliance. “Parents should have peace of mind that Kudos is secure for kids to express themselves and have fun.”
For the past two years, Kudos&Co has been working with thousands of beta users and online safety experts to understand kids’ needs and their interest in social sharing. In response, Kudos&Co has developed the Kudos platform, bringing together the social features that kids enjoy in a monitored and more secure environment that parents appreciate. Focused on positive sharing, Kudos is a fun, engaging experience that empowers kids to build a community around the things that matter to them while inspiring and supporting others.
“At Kudos&Co, we are committed to creating a kid-driven community where users are encouraged to create, connect and share with other kids around the world,” said Ole Vidar Hestaas, CEO and co-founder of Kudos&Co. “We have worked tirelessly to create the ultimate experience for children and are working with some of the most talented people in the business. We look forward to expanding the capabilities of our platform and bringing positive sharing to the global stage.”
Kudos is a free app available for download in the App Store and on Google Play. The app requires parental consent for use and posting, giving parents peace of mind as well as updates on their child’s activity.
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a law created to protect the privacy of children under 13. Congress enacted COPPA in 1998 with strict new revisions that went into place July 2013. COPPA is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The primary goal of COPPA is to place parents in control over what information is collected from their young children online.
